Ghost of separate statehood

Telangana crisis has given birth to the myriad separate statehood agitations. Few people who never got the chance to represents in bigger arena are now fighting for the autonomy of their domain. Gorkhaland ,Harit pradesh ,Vidarbha are the fallouts of the P.Chitambaram's short sighted decision of carving Telangana out of the AP. In this blog I will try to enlist few points regarding the need and feasibility of seperate Vidarbha
Demand for separate Vidarbha is not new though it is not consistently pursued by Vidarbha's politicians. Every time who raised the voice for autonomy we are satisfied with ministerial post and the demand was left for a new voice. Lack of development, farmer suicides, irregular rains have deserted the Vidarbha. Gross negligence from state government is also one of the main reason behind Vidarbha’s pity state. But are west Maharashtra’s politicians solely responsible for this negligence? No surely not. Vidarbha’s politicians got the honour of Maharashtra’s CM post for 15 years out of 50.Apart from CM post Vidarbha ministers have always been there in cabinet. What did they do Vidarbha ? We got some Engineering colleges which solved their purpose too. Whenever they went to Mumbai they forgot Vidarbha. So what is the surety of the good governance in separate statehood? People will claim that CG ,Jharkhand have been benefited after getting apart from their native states. They have surely increased their GDP, but distribution of the funds were mishandled and growth was asymmetric , people like Koda making worth of more than 4k crore is an evidence to this. There are high chances of corruption and mismanagement in small states which we can see in small states like Goa where drug addiction, heinous violence are taking place every other day.
Main problem Vidarbha facing today is regarding agro sector. Vidarbha has two agriculture universities namely Akola and Nagpur. Its high time they should chip in and help the ailing sector to regain its past golden era. What Vidarbha desperately needs is second green revolution and not the ‘good for nothing’ different statehood.
Nagpur as a capital can get 2-3 IT parks but it won’t serve the main purpose of masses. Regarding industrialization, apart from Chandrapur Vidarbha lacks natural resource. We simply can’t deny the prowess of Mumbai in industrialization and the fact that it is the main reason behind the development of west Maharashtra. Saying that Nagpur will play the role of Mumbai after becoming the capital of Vidarbha is nothing but fooling ourselves. Right now we can avail excellent facilities of education at Pune, but after bifurcation we won’t be able to enjoy the same facilities and I am sure it would cost a lot to those witty students who are burning their nights to enter prestigious colleges situated in Pune,Mumbai.
Problem are many but solution is always there. By combined efforts of government (both central and state) and people, Vidhabha can establish its identity even under Mumbai’s rule, just what is needed is the will to make the difference.

TECHNOTHLON-National school championship

On 19th july 2009, history was written by the student community of IIT Guwahti by very successful conduction of prelims of Technothlon 09 -National Schoool Championship. A participation of 1.2 lakh students of 9-12th from across 68 cities in the country; itself gives the proof of the stupendous feat it has achieved . Top 65 teams from each squad(hauts and junior) will be selected and called in the campus of IIT Guwahati during the annual techno - management fest Techniche09; i.e. from 4th -6th september. Results to the prelims have already been announced on new website www.techniche.org/technothlon.html .

Slumdog millionaire happened to be my first movie in 2nd sem.listening to its preview,i had large expectations from it. But i was largely disapointed.Some may say that the movie was based on reality, but it was an exaggeration and nothing more than that.Director tried his best to exploit India's poverty and misery and in future he may be rewarded by an oscar.It seems that more you focus on slums of india ,more are your chances of bagging some honours.An article by Malay choudhary(THE SUNDAY INDIAN)was excellent.His critical thoughts on this movie were worth to think upon .This movie is tarnishing India's image of being future superpower .In marathi there is a proverb ,"JHAKALI MUTH SAWWA LAKHACHI".It means sometimes it is better to keep secrecy.We all are aware of our nation's third world status.we have idea about our problems.We all should unite together to find out a solution.But at the same time ,we should protest if someone is making money by selling our problems.In this respect i admire media restriction imposed in Russia,China etc.
Even in this case there are some positives to be taken from this otherwise stupid movie.Lets do some efforts, so that no one will get chance to direct such movies in future.
